Paint Eater
Paint Eater is the pseudonym of Charis Lisakowski, a disabled queer punk artist from Winnipeg.
Charis specializes in linocut and acrylic paint. Paint Eater exists to reimagine ‘unsightly’ things as beautiful while honouring the inevitability of death.
Charis loves gothic imagery, fat bodies, bones, anything strange or unusual and bright pink. All of Charis’ work is influenced by disability and their lived experience as an agender lesbian.
All of Charis’ pieces are entirely handmade by their disabled hands and a true labour of love.
What Do You Rebel Against?
I rebel against the colonial and white supremacist ideals of our society.
I rebel against the assumptions made about me as a fat young disabled person.
I rebel against misogyny, gender roles, binary genders, transphobia,
racism, homophobia, xenophobia and ‘traditionalism’. I rebel against
capitalism and the billionaires exploiting workers while burning our planet.
I rebel against the increasing eugenics of the canadian government towards
Indigenous people and disabled people. I rebel against borders and
forcing people off of lands that are not ours to police (FUCK ICE).
I rebel against assumptions made about me as a nonbinary
person who is seen as a woman. I rebel against genocide.
I rebel against who I am ‘supposed’ to be.
