FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 General FAQ

  • Our market is a vibrant hub of music, creativity, and alternative culture! Embracing the DIY ethos, we created a space that empowers and connects underground artists, creatives, vintage fashion enthusiasts, and indie businesses of all types.  We provide a safe space for anyone to come and discover, meet new friends and be surrounded by an incredible community of like minded pals.

Our priority at Winnipeg Punk Rock Flea Market is to create a safer, accessible, inclusive and supportive experience for people of all ages, gender identities, sexualities, cultures, abilities, health and economic statuses.

We have zero tolerance for discrimination in any form, including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia or any other sign of hate in our space. Check out our Code of Conduct for complete details of our expectations for ourselves and everyone involved with WPRFM.

  • We put on two big market events each year. Our spring market happens in early April and our fall market in late October or early November.

We are currently holding our markets at the Victoria Inn Hotel and Conference Centre. This space has a number of features that make it more accessible and inclusive for our vendors, volunteers and attendees - central(ish) location, single ground floor market space with easy entry/exit, dedicated free parking, accessible washrooms and more!

Watch our Events page and our socials, and sign up for our newsletter, for details on upcoming WPRFM events!

  • Accessibility and inclusivity are guiding principles for the WPRFM team, and we strive to make our events accessible for people of all ages, abilities and exceptionalities.

We prioritize choosing venues that are low-barrier and accessible to all abilities and needs.

Our events tend to be busy and feature live deejays playing music throughout the day so you should be prepared for a bustling and noisy environment. However, we do offer a lower sensory experience for the last hour of our market events.

Watch our Accessibility page and our socials for event-specific accessibility details.

  • We don’t sell advance tickets or charge an entry fee to attend our markets, but we do have a “pay what you can” donation station at our market welcome tables where you can choose to make a contribution.

Half of all donations we collect at a market go to our featured community partners, and the other half go towards keeping our next event low cost and low barrier for everyone.

  • Punk, much like Wu Tang, is for the children. Bring your granny, the aunties, your polycule too. Or get the band back together and bring them. Everyone is welcome.

Be aware though, that our markets do feature some vendors selling items that may be scary or inappropriate for young kids. We spotlight all vendors for our upcoming market on our socials and our Vendor Directory page, so you can plan in advance.

  • Punk is a state of mind, an attitude and community.  It’s rebellion against the norm and driven by acceptance, community and a love of DIY.

We welcome attendees, makers, volunteers, and other creatives from every colour, gender, race, and class. We strive to be a fully inclusive and safe environment.

All are welcome at the Flea!

  • WPRFM is a curated market dedicated to all things weird and creative. Our volunteer organizing crew hand-select all our vendors with an emphasis on original creations and ethically sourced items that you won’t find on the usual art & craft market circuit.

You can expect to find music (records and more), custom art, vintage clothing, curiosities, custom jewelry, upcycled fashions, lotions, potions, one-of-a-kind collections, leather goods, food, drinks and more!

We don't take mass-produced or AI created items, MLMs, corporate/chain businesses, etc. And we don’t allow products that promote hate or intolerance to the people in our communities.

Check out our Vendor Directory to see past WPRFM vendors and the lineup for our upcoming events!

  • Most WPRFM vendors will accept digital debit/credit payment or e-transfer, but we always say cash is queen!

There is an ATM available on-site at our current venue.

  • We regularly feature a small number of food vendors selling pre-packed products for takeaway, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

There is a full-service restaurant available at our current venue and several other food and beverage service options in the surrounding area.

  • We select a local community partner for each of our events, usually focused on harm reduction services and education. 50% of the proceeds from our “pay what you can” entry donations go directly to our community partner. We are proud to have helped raise over $10,000 dollars for our community partners since 2022!

We also feature a variety of community pop-ups at our events, including kids’ activities, clothing swaps, mending stations, photo booths and occasional local celebrity visits!

Check out our Events page and our socials for details about our upcoming events!

VENDOR FAQ

  • We open vendor applications about three months before each WPRFM market event. The only way to apply to a WPRFM event is through the official vendor application form, available only on our Vendor page.

  • Our dedicated volunteer organizing crew reviews each application to curate a market lineup of unique vendors. We look at several criteria to help find the vendors that best fit the DIY ethos of the WPRFM and work to maintain a good balance of first-time WPRFM vendors and returning community favourites.

  • At the end of the selection process for each market, we contact every vendor that has applied to let you know whether you’ve been selected for the next market or been added to our waitlist.

  • We put every vendor who applies for a WPRFM event and is not accepted to the market on our official waitlist. If an accepted vendor has to drop out (this does happen for a variety of reasons) we use the waitlist to fill their spot.

If you aren’t accepted to one of our events, it does not mean we don’t like your stuff! We fit as many vendors into our markets as we can, and we would love to take everyone who applies, but we regularly get approx. twice as many applications as we have spaces so we have to make a lot of hard choices.

  • Booth options can vary depending on the venue for each market, but we currently offer 8ft x8ft booths for $90 per day, 10ft x 10ft booths for $110 per day and a limited number of 20ft x 10ft booths for $250 per day.

10ft x10ft spaces can be shared between two vendors. Make sure you select this option on your application if interested.

  • Our vendor fees are invested directly into the market and go toward paying for the venue rental and associated costs.

Our organizing crew, event crew and promotional teams are 100% volunteer-run and we do not collect any payment for our work on the WPRFM.
