James Turowski Studio

James Turowski is a visual artist and curator based on Treaty 1 Territory (Winnipeg, Manitoba). His work in craft mediums, such as ceramics and textiles, challenges the expected traditions of those mediums and contemplates queer issues surrounding craft and identity.

He utilizes symbolism and queer history to provide a record of queer experience.

His interest in queer imagery shows up often in his embroidered and ceramic works, as does his love for plants and astrology.

He also takes inspiration from folk art traditions to create a unique visual language and one-of-a-kind home décor.
