Described as dark, surreal and humorous, Francine Martin works mainly in mixed media and paper collage, assemblage, and photography. Martin’s work is visually playful, bold and bright while exploring sometimes dark themes relating to gender, mortality, consumerism and loss, as well as human/nature (dis)connection. Repurposing and transforming elements from our consumerist culture, Martin uses these to create two-and three-dimensional work to
challenge the viewer’s perceptions and assumptions. Her artwork is held in private collections in Europe, Australia, Canada & the United States.

Capitalism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc...
The idea that we are here to "earn" our living
rather than here to feel joy,
and love without having to devote our lives to
meaningless pursuits that profit the rich.

I am into Rap from the SWANA region lately. Too many artists to name.
What aesthetic or era do you find yourself emotionally trapped in?
I am stuck in the 80s, both as that little punk,
but also always trying to make that little punk proud.
